By the Rev. Seth Dietrich
Jesus began his ministry with a 40-day fast alone in the wilderness, and ended his life on earth alone on a cross. As modern-day followers of Christ, Lent is the season in which we head out into our own wilderness, taking time for solitary introspection. At the same time, to truly ponder one’s own brokenness before God can quickly become overwhelming if we only go about it alone. One must have a gathered community for support.
In this spirit, I want to especially invite you to the two simple Lenten suppers on February 21 and March 13. Beginning at 6 p.m., we will eat together, and then we will walk the Stations of the Cross together, pondering through this ancient discipline the road of suffering that Jesus walked. But we will not do it alone. We will have each other. Families are especially invited to this event, and there will be separate activities for children, as well as nursery care for the youngest among us.
